End of the season

Well, Matthew's first season of select baseball came to a close in the state super series tournament in McKinney this weekend. The boys did well, but lost in the semifinals. Matthew has loved every bit of the select baseball life. He definitely has it in his blood! He was very sad at the end of the tournament, although the rest of us were relieved to get into the air conditioning. Two days in a row, the boys were out playing nonstop for 5 hours in the 98 degree heat. We were complaining wearing shorts and sitting under a tarp. These poor boys were playing in thick pants with no shade while in the field! I never heard a complaint out of Matthew, though. He would do anything to play. After the last game, we headed south on 45 to meet Bryon's parents. They wanted the kids this week since their church is having VBS this week. The house is VERY QUIET!!

Here are a few pictures from the weekend:

Thomas was content running the scoreboard! He did a great job counting balls, strikes, runs, and innings.
Matthew hit a beauty into right field. You can see the ball in the upper right corner. Too bad the right fielder caught the ball. Boo!
A quick Father's Day picture before heading to the fields. The kids gave Bryon cards, and he enjoyed his gift of three shirts from Brooks Brothers. Matthew also gave him a signed baseball. An appropriate gift for a Dad who spends lots of time watching Matthew play!

Matthew pitched the second game. He continues to improve each tournament!

We were excited to have Michael, Jilinda, and Lydia come for 1 1/2 games on Saturday. Thomas loves Lydia time!

After the first day of games, we headed to Michael and Jilinda's community pool for a cool down. This is the only picture I got before jumping in the pool myself! Mary Beth enjoyed swimming to all of the family. So happy that she is gaining confidence in the water!
