What a busy weekend!
Thomas and I headed up to Arlington early Saturday morning. He played in the Texas Music Teacher's convention with an ensemble group directed by his piano teacher. I was very proud of him for working hard and being the youngest in our ensemble. After his dress rehearsal on Saturday, we headed to Ft. Worth for a fun afternoon of shopping and eating great food. Thomas says that Pizzeria Uno is his second favorite restaurant. The only one greater is Carmine's in NYC. He compares all meals to the ones at Carmine's. Poor kid has very high standards!
After a fun day, we ate at Pappadeaux near our hotel in Arlington. Thomas had a great time and kept telling me it was his favorite day. Then, after dinner, in typical Thomas-speak, he told me, "This will definitely not be my worst day ever.....well.....I guess if we were robbed and your stuff stolen, then it might be my worst day, because there is like a 0.5% chance that could happen....I'm serious, Mom." Well said, Thomas, well said.
Meanwhile, 4 hours south of us, Matthew started his baseball tournament. After pitching 2 innings, he got overheated and started throwing up every liquid in his body. He was out for 1 1/2 games that day.
On Sunday, Thomas and I headed to his piano ensemble. The kids did great! We started heading home and getting updates on Matthew's team's progress in the tournament. By the time we were near Waco, we found out that Matthew's team won the semifinals and were headed to the championship. So, instead of going home, we kept heading south until we got to Georgetown. I was just in time to see the boys win the tournament! It was very exciting. Matthew still didn't seem 100%, and didn't bat great, but he had a great center field catch where he had to run nearly to the fence to catch the ball.
What a fun way to end the weekend! I included the last picture to show what MB's hair looked like when I found her in Georgetown. I know I am needed in this family even if it is only to do girl hair! ;)
