Gulf Shores

We are still reliving all of our wonderful memories of our big family's trip to Gulf Shores several weeks ago!  Typically, our family goes to New England for beach vacations, but I have always wanted to spend time on the Alabama coastline.  I am so glad we did!  The weather the week we were there was perfect and I was very impressed by the family atmosphere in L.A. (Lower Alabama!).  We had lots of fun beach time, but it wouldn't be a Robinson vacay without a billion other activities.

The Pier shopping and ferris wheel.

 Eating at the Gulf Restaurant
After a great afternoon of golf.

Ice cream!  Mary Beth was so proud of her newly acquired "Southern Lady Sombrero"!

Professional picture night.  The last time we had professional pics of the whole family (not including weddings) was several weeks before my wedding in 1996.  We've changed a tad.

Eating the snapper and mackeral that Matthew caught on his deep sea fishing adventure!

The Caribe, our home for a week.

No one tells a story like Deedah!

Dodging the sting rays and jellyfish!

A beautiful night on the Gulf.  Makes my heart happy!

 Typical Matthew Shenanigans!

 Our balcony view.
That's us parasailing!  Mom took the picture from our balcony.

Matthew learned to fly fish from a fabulous shop owner in Fairhope.  As Scarlett O' Hara is my witness,  I will live here one day...

As luck would have it, one of my FAVORITE authors was in Fairhope the week we were there!  I have read 8 or 9 of her books and they are so entertaining.  We were able to eat lunch and hear her talk about her new book,  The Time Between (I already read it and loved it!) and our family talked to her for a while.  I love her and I'm pretty sure we would would be best friends if she lived closer.  :)

The boys had a successful fishing outing!
Thomas, Mary Beth, Lauren, and I went parasailing on our last full day there.  It was quite a thing to see a shark in the water and have the boat operator pull a prank on Thomas and me and dip up into the water!  My shrieks were very entertaining to the people on the boat!

Our last meal together before heading home.  What a blessing to have such a fun and adventurous family!  Not to mention a beautiful vacation spot and memories to last forever!
