Since the boys had baseball tryouts this weekend, we pulled out the gloves, balls, and bats, and started playing in the backyard again. This is one of my favorite times in life. Watching my three boys playing ball, and enjoying beautiful sunsets in my backyard. I love the winter sky, and think there is something so beautiful about the silhouette of leafless trees and wispy clouds.
Speaking of being outside, I have begun the great winter digout in my garden. I have about one hundred cuts on my hands, arms, and ankles to prove it! In August, I am ready to give up gardening completely. By February, it's "Game On!"

Mary Beth had a performance at her school on Friday night. Isn't she looking big in pictures? This is a picture of Mary Beth and her best friend, Whitney. Whitney and Mary Beth are exactly 6 months apart in age, so the will be 5 and 41/2 this week. I have never seen such a strong bond in friends at such a young age. They are so cute together!
We had a busy weekend! The plan was to go to Dallas for the weekend to be with my brother on his birthday. Then we realized that we had 2 piano theory tests, 2 baseball tryouts, 2 basketball games, a Dodgeball tournament that Bryon played in, one that he judged, and 3 LTC practices on Sunday! Sooooo, I took the boys to the piano test, grabbed Mary Beth, and hightailed it out of there! Bryon had a boys weekend, and I had a girl trip! We enjoyed being with Michael and Jilinda. I am so blessed to have them in our lives, and I can't wait to meet my new niece, Lydia in a few short weeks!
I will leave you with this funny conversation heard on the carpool drive home on Friday:
Ashlyn: "My dad's piano teacher only had 3 fingers on both of her hands."
Matthew: "That's TERRIBLE! If I only had that many fingers, I would never be able to rock climb!"
