Mary Beth and I had a wonderful time last Thursday!
First, a little background. One of my favorite stores in our town is called Amelia's Fashion Exchange. It's a consignment store, but not your mother's consignment store! Everything is in pristine condition, lots of Baylor girls consign there, many boutiques in town consign their brand new clothes that don't sell, and Ted Nugent's wife even sold her nearly brand new clothes there to donate for charity! I have one of her dresses! ;) You will rarely see me out without something on from Amelia's. I can't begin to describe the great deals in that store! My favorite part is that they know my size and brand preference, and the manager will set clothes aside for me.
Amelia's helped with a Mission Waco fundraiser on Thursday called Fashion with a Passion. Mission Waco is one of my favorite organizations, and I was happy when Amelia's asked me to model some of their clothes for this event. This was my second year to model in the show. What thrilled me even more was that the local adorable kid's consignment store needed kid models for the event, and Mary Beth was MORE than willing to lend her hand!
She was hilarious when trying on clothes for the event. My normally laid back, easy going gal was very particular on what she wanted to wear. "This does NOT look like a model!" came out of her mouth many times! She could hardly wait the week before Fashion with a Passion. She even cried the day before the event thinking that that was the day!
On the day of the show, Mary Beth and her best friend, Whitney, got to be checked out of school at 10am and loved every minute of getting ready. Her mom, Maria, and I laughed so hard because they used the hair and make up girls more than the adults did! Between each act, they changed clothes, got a make up touch up, and had to change their hair do! Mary Beth did great on the runway. She put her hands on her hips and flashed her dimple with ease.
After the show, Maria and I took our girls to Chick Fil A for a girls lunch. For the past two years before kindergarten, we took them there as a weekly tradition before or after ballet. When Mary Beth went to school, that was one of the traditions I missed the most! I enjoyed having her with me for a fun afternoon!
At some point, we were driving home and I asked Mary Beth what activities she wanted to do next year. She told me she wanted to drop ballet and soccer and stick with modeling! What a ham!
