New Mexico

After our last baseball tournament, we dropped the kids with my in laws, partly to let them attend VBS in Conroe, but also so Bryon and I could attend a couples retreat with our church friends in New Mexico.

One of the ministers at our church (my former youth minister) has a cabin in the mountains of New Mexico, and enjoys bringing 3-4 couples from church up for a week each summer. This was the first year we could attend, and we had a ball!

We went with two couples that are great friends of ours, and another couple that I wanted to get to know better. The bus ride up was a blast. It reminded me of going on mission trips in high school. We all enjoyed hiking, shopping in Santa Fe, cool mornings and evenings, and relaxing without kids. It seems so hard to get to know couples without having our darling children dividing our attention.

After a fun week, we drove home Sunday. After 12 hours in the car, we enjoyed reuniting with our kids who we hadn't seen in a week. This was the longest I had ever been away from Mary Beth. Then, we quickly repacked our bags to leave for Cape Cod. We weren't home 11 hours before we headed back to the airport for Boston!
