Goods days

Mary Beth ran in this morning, hands in the air, and exclaimed, "I just LOVE good days!"

Me, too, Emmy Lou!

I haven't been updating as much, and haven't taken many pictures, because the past 1 1/2 weeks have been blissfully uneventful. We had camps scheduled for this week, but decided to cancel to give us more at home time. We have been reading, riding bikes, playing in the back yard, playing Wii, eating late, sleeping late, watching Thomas play baseball, and watching movies. This is what summer is all about!

Our activity level will increase more in the coming weeks. We have a family reunion for Bryon's mother's side of the family in Galveston this weekend. Matthew has baseball camp next week. Fourth of July is next weekend. Then, we are hitting the road for our two week adventure!

Bryon and I have been together for 13 years, and I have never spent two weeks straight with him! I am so looking forward to that! The Wednesday after Independence Day, we are heading out of Texas and taking 3 1/2 days to drive to Rhode Island. I had such a great experience traveling 2,800 miles earlier in the month, that I can't wait for our nearly 4,000 mile trip next month.

On the way, we are scheduled to stop at Monticello, home of Thomas's favorite president, Thomas Jefferson, walk around University of Virginia, drive through the Shenandoah National Forest, spend a few hours in D.C., head up to Philadelphia to see Independence Hall and the Liberty Bell, then reach our final destination on the coast in Rhode Island.

My mother's parents were from Rhode Island, and we have lots of family there. My parents rented a beach house and my whole family will stay there all week. I am so excited about that! Since my parent's live so close, I haven't spent the night with them (or both of my siblings) in years and years. While in Rhode Island, we will spend time at the beach and do some sight seeing and shopping. The day before we leave, we will have a family reunion for my mother's mother's side of the family. I am expecting lots of great seafood! Yum! Yum!

Then, it will be time to head home. On the way home, we will stop in Alabama. I was born there, lived there as a little girl, and visited my grandmother there at least once a year the entire time I was growing up. It is a very special place for me! After I got married, my grandmother moved to Texas, and I haven't been back since. In fact, the last time I was there, I was touring the Speech Pathology department at Bama, as I was considering going there for graduate school. A few weeks later, I started dating Bryon, which put an end to that thought! ;) I am also hoping to meet my Alabama blogger buddies there. I can't wait!

Lots to look forward to, but in the meantime, I am just enjoying our "good days" at home.

I live half way between Houston and Galveston and go to Galveston alot. Usually just to eat and sometimes to walk the Strand.

Enjoy your time in Galveston and have a safe trip!

Wow, that sounds like such a fun adventure. But, I don't know if I could be in a car for that long. I think I would go a little stir crazy!! Rhode Island is so beautiful this time of year..have fun!

Your trip sounds like a great family adventure! In D.C., if you haven't been to the WWII Memorial, I recommend it. The way they've redone the Washington Monument is very cool (reserve tickets in advance), and I never tire of walking up the steps at the Lincoln. We only live 15 minutes away in Virginia and sometimes spend the day being "tourists" ourselves and taking in all that's to see. Have safe travels and a very fun trip!
