What really got to me was listening to Baptist preachers talk about the church of Christ. Calling it everything from unbiblical, unethical, and even cult-like. I grew up in what I would call a progressively minded family. Dad has always been that way and my mother grew up Catholic so things like music in church or women in leadership roles weren't quite as shocking! I was a senior in high school before I ever heard someone ask me if we thought we were the only ones going to heaven! I thought that was the craziest notion I had ever heard. I guess some whacko somewhere stated that is what he believed and our churches have spent decades trying to recover from it.
When I was listening to these men speak, I wanted to shout, "We are not the enemy! We are on the same team! We all believe that Jesus is the Son of God!" I couldn't help but think that Satan was somewhere listening to this exchange with a grin on his face.

On another, MUCH LIGHTER note, I planted my vegetable garden this morning! I love gardening and try to learn something new every year. This year, it is vegetables! Bryon built me a nice raised bed to put on the back of my garden. I went to a local nursery yesterday and bought a truckload of dirt and manure to put in the bed. When they came to deliver the dirt, they could only get as close as my gate. They dumped a truckload of dirt and manure on my driveway and bid me farewell! Bryon and I spent the better half of last night and early this morning hauling dirt into our garden. I couldn't help but wonder if there was a rancher out there laughing that I just spent $100 on cow poop!
I am starting out with tomatoes, jalapenos, eggplant, peppers, zucchini, and squash. Wish me luck!

I watched, too, but have had mixed emotions about it. At first she angered me, but then I thought to myself that she probably realized that if she really went toe-to-toe with him she would "lose".
I guess I have been naive, too. I was also quite "old" before someone mentioned the whole "c of c'ers are the only people who think they are going to Heaven" thing. I remember someone asking me if I thought we were the only group going to Heaven and I responded "I hope not.".....
I don't know when Christians will realize that we need to stop fighting each other and start fighting the devil.
I am so frustrated by all the talk that we think we're the only ones going to heaven. I, also, never heard that until I was well into college. I had no idea that people thought that. We ARE all on the same team.
Personally I am glad Mike Cope couldn't get satelite feed because if she had attacked him the way she did Rubel, I would have thrown up! I think Rubel did a great job and showed true grace and character.
I don't think anyone really takes Nancy Grace or her show seriously. She never lets her guest finish a sentence let alone a thought. She is a bully with words and just thrives on the sensationalism of a story. If Mary Winkler was Baptisit they would portray the Baptist badly.
A thought that entered my head....If I had killed my husband, would Nancy Grace or anyone else be wondering if Bryon's law practice had anything to do with why I killed him? This is becoming sensationalized because her husband was a minister.
Another thought...Half of my family are devout Catholics. Their religion has been reeling over the past few years because of the "priest as pedofile" topic. There are pedofiles everywhere but it is sensationalized because of the religios aspect. I think we need to pray for all Christians who are persecuted, not just church of Christers.

Thanks for commenting! No, we have no pets. I did years ago and they destroyed my yard. I am going to have to watch out for hungry bunnies, though, because they are all over the place here!
I've been eyeing the bajillions of seeds that have been put out lately. I can not WAIT to get my hands in the fresh dirt. Our subdivision used to be a farm. The top soil is a beautiful dark brown ~ it's just asking for flowers, herbs and vegetables to be planted! I can feel the soil running through my hands and under my feet now! Have fun w/ it!
OH, you will LOVE garden veggies. We have a farm and grow an over-abundance of all kinds of vegetables, even watermelon! There is no beating home-grown produce. My husband grew up with this and can't stand when I buy meat or veggies from HEB. Enjoy! Now all you need is a cow and your own butchered meat.
