One of the benefits of giving blood the other day was that I got a free cholesterol screen. I have always been extremely healthy and don't even like most greasy foods. So, yawn yawn, I type in my blood donation number on the website to see how healthy I am and imagine my surprise when I received the news that I had borderline high cholesterol!
I have never received a "bad" number on my health before, so hyper dramatic Elizabeth took over. Who is going to take care of my kids when I keel over and die? And even more pressing, "Is this the end of my love affair with the great chocolate chip cookie?" I felt like one of those cholesterol commercials. Picture it: a healthy young mother of three playing football with the boys in the back yard when she suddenly collapses and hits her head on a tree.
Panicked, I called my doctor and waited by the phone for him to call me back. It turns out the nursing mothers are supposed to have higher cholesterol but we will get it checked out after I stop nursing. I feel like my heart is hurting right now. Is that numbness in my limbs? To be continued....
Had a thought.
