Matthew

 Could my baby boy look any older? He is finishing up his last 2 1/2 weeks of intermediate school.  Here are a few fun thing about Matthew now.

The last time he had his own room was before baby Mary Beth joined the family.  Since he was 4 years old, he has been sharing either a bed or a bedroom with Thomas.  I would have loved to keep it that way, but as the years have progressed, it seemed like separating them was inevitable.  First of all, Matthew is a serious night owl.  Definitely his father's son.  It's rare to get him to sleep before 11pm despite repeated warnings.  He never seems tired, so I guess this gift will serve him well as he gets older!  The same cannot be said for Thomas, and the lamp being on at night really bugged him.  Matthew is so independent and was so ready to be on his own, that we decided to make our office his bedroom.  Furniture shuffling went on all weekend long!  He is so happy on his own and so is Thomas!   A good move! Matthew is now sleeping on the bed that I slept in for nearly my entire childhood!

Matthew joined the youth group at church last weekend!  The kids in 6th grade "Step Up" to the youth group in May.  Matthew is beyond excited to get to hang out with 7th-12th graders.  His first junior high retreat is at the end of the month.
