Red velvet balls are one of my family's favorite desserts. I just got through making a batch for Matthew's teacher's birthday today. They are also a great gift at Valentine's Day. Here is the recipe:
1 box Red Velvet Cake
1 sm. tub of cream cheese frosting
1 package of chocolate bark
Bake red velvet cake as per directions. Use the biggest container you can to bake it in. This helps it be a little dryer. I use a 11x15.
Let it cool slightly. Then crumble the cake in a large bowl (make sure not to have large chunks of hardened edge cake in the mix) and pour the cream cheese frosting in the bowl. Mix well.
Roll into balls whatever size you want. Mine are usually the size of golf balls. Maybe a little smaller. Put the balls in the refrigerator to harden.
After a while, melt the chocolate bark either on the stove or in the microwave. Dip balls into the chocolate mix and let them harden. After finishing the balls, I like to drizzle white almond bark on top of them.
Then try your hardest not to eat the entire platter of them!
Had a thought.

These sound delicious! Thanks for sharing.
sounds good!
Yummy! Do you melt the frosting before you pour it over the cake?
I have made these many times since you gave me the recipe, and they are always such a big hit! Everyone thinks I go to a lot of trouble, but they really aren't hard to make!!!
Anon,
The frosting is already thin in the tub. It melts easily in the warm cake crumbles.
Tracy-Many of my friends have told me about oreo balls. I need to make them soon!

I make these at Christmas every year and they are a huge hit! The hardest part, as you said, is staying out of them myself.
They also stay moist in the refrigerater for a week or so.

Yep. It's official. I have lost my mind. I had a dream about you last night! LOL! We were just walking and chatting in the parking lot of Hobby Lobby and Drug Emporium where you live. You were trying to convince me that your real name was "Jennifer". I know, crazy, but TRUE! HA! Hope you are laughing too! ; )
You will have to post a picture of them! I actually think I tried these, you made them recently, maybe it was from last year? They were amazing! Thanks for sharing the recipe! I owe you one!
