Who are you and why are you here?

Oh, I am totally blog-lifting from SG and DJG. I am also curious at who visits my site. How did you stumble upon it? Why do you keep coming back? I would love to know!

I stumbled on your blog a while back when I was reading something from Judy Thomas's blog.

I visit because I am addicted to blogging. I have an extremely boring desk job with a lot of computer time, so I see what's going on in blog land every day.

I don't know you personally, but we have Abilene, C of C, and kids in common. It's amazing how I've "rediscovered" people I knew from a long time ago through blogging!

I enjoy reading about your interaction with your kids. I enjoy seeing pictures. I feel like I have a buddy in Texas that I keep up with!

Thanks guys! Mommy of Boys, you need to start blogging too so I can hear all about your life in my beloved Alabama with your boys!

My life is much too boring for the blog world...but I'm okay with that. :)

Hello! I found your blog as a link on Kristen O'Quinns blog. I've actually been reading it for like 3 months! I feel like I know you! Kind of strange...
We used to live in Dallas, where we met the O'Quinn's at Prestoncrest.
We now live in Abilene and love it!

I love reading your funny stories about your precious kids!

Thanks Mrs. Mayo!
I grew up in Abilene so I am sure we know a lot of the same people.

I think I hit you through SG. I love the stories of your children (especially Matthew- maybe the name)

Anyway keep it up. It's all good!

I read your stuff for the scheduling... Just Joshin'. Love the pics and stories of the children, got here via Steph... did I really type "Just Joshin'?" I havent' used that term since the 7th grade ~ how eerie!

I guess I got here through SG, also.....but I don't really know. I recognized you from Abilene. I love hearing about your life and the way it is different from mine (although it looks a lot like what I am wishing for).

Golly Gee, Mae. Thanks for the comment!

Honestly, I'm not sure. I think I linked over from Mandy (MDM) or Tracy's (TMK). Either from them having a link or maybe you commented on one of theirs and I linked over. I link from comments people make alot.

I enjoy that we both our first children in Kindergarten and that you're active in PTA. (I may need some advice in that area sometime as I'm getting involved, too!) I'm amazed at how your house is always clean and the things you cook: lemon spaghetti??? Can you post a recipe?

You're fun to read! I like your optimism!

Hi Elizabeth: I found you via Carl Flynn's blog; I am good friends with his mother-in-law. I love reading about your kids and your life in Texas where you have seasons! Through you I have also been enjoying your sister, Lauren, (I am so excited for her first pregnancy!) and Kristin. Someday I would like to meet the three of you; I already feel like you are my friends, and you are my sisters in Christ. Also I found Jim Martin through you and I have been appreciating his words and insights. Anyway, you asked and I thought I had better confess! Thanks for sharing your life and your children. Mine are 9 and 11 and it seems like just yesterday that they were ME's age! God bless. Christina in Palm Springs, California

Jacinda-
Oh, I hope I haven't left the impression that my house is always clean! I think I write that I am always cleaning it, but 5 minutes after all my kids are home, it is a mess again and I have to start the process all over again!

When I complain about this to my mother, she says that one day my house will always be clean but I won't have precious little ones in it anymore. It helps me appreciate my stuff-on-the-floor, kid-full house!

Now for the recipe. My kids like it just plain and it is good with a meat dish as a side.

Lemon Spaghetti:
1 pound spaghetti
2/3 cup olive oil
2/3 cup grated Parmesan
1/2 cup fresh lemon juice (about 3 lemons)
Salt and freshly ground black pepper
1 tablespoon lemon zest
1/3 cup chopped fresh basil leaves
(I also like fresh rosemary in it too b/c I love lemon and rosemary together. You can throw just about anything in it!)

Cook the pasta in a large pot of boiling salted water until tender but still firm to the bite, stirring occasionally, about 8 minutes. Meanwhile, whisk the oil, Parmesan, and lemon juice in a large bowl to blend.
Drain the pasta, reserving 1 cup of the cooking liquid. Toss the pasta with the lemon sauce, and the reserved cooking liquid, adding 1/4 cup at a time as needed to moisten. Season with salt and pepper. Garnish with lemon zest and chopped basil.

Christina-
Thank you for letting me know you read my blog! I will also tell Jim that he has a friend in sunny California! We loved the Flynns when they lived in Waco. I actually met them the week after I got married. Tell them hello from me! I met Chantal's mother on several occasions.

I read your blog because I have known you forever -- half of my life (now that sounds like a long time -- can you believe we have been friends that long?)

I liked reading your tag of firsts/lasts because it jogged memories I had too -- you and Mike...I hadn't thought about that in a long time!

elizabeth said...

Ahh yes. Those were the days! Do you know Mike never got married? I saw his best friend's wife at church one day and she filled me in on him. I guess I must have ruined him!

And no I can't believe that we have been friends for half our lives! It is fun being able to hear about your days between our visits!

I came to your blog through a comment that you left on mine one day, asking if my mom was Cheryl. I have been very encouraged to see how the Lord has used you to minister to your precious family!

I started reading you through Kristen O'Quinn's blog (who I don't know either, maybe I should comment on hers too). I stumbled on that one when they had one on MSN spaces and I did also.

I do not have a blog at the moment but I am thinking about starting another one. I have two little girls and our family is getting more spread out as everyone leaves home for college and jobs (I live in GA).

I enjoy reading the blogs of other mothers and their busy everday lives and funny and special times with their children and families. If it is alright I will let you know when I start my blog.

Oh...I do have a link to Texas, since that seems to be a big thing... My brother was in school in Houston for two years. He just moved to Tennessee for his "after college" job. He grew up in a small GA town and, I am sorry to say, he did not care for life in Houston.

Take care,
Melissa

I found you through comments on Donna's blog, I think. I enjoy this small glimpse into your daily life and you are so encouraging!

We also have a tie to Texas - my FIL lives in Waco...

I am glad you wrote! This is why I wanted to do this post. To see if other people read my blog other than the usual commenters. Feel free to comment anytime.

My bro-in-law is from GA and we have lots of Alabama connections so I am familiar with your neck of the woods.

My husbands family is from a little north of Houston which is nice but I understand the dislike of downtown Houston. Very congested. Very humid!

Chris-
Interesting about your FIL. We are all so connected in so many different ways!

I am not sure how I linked onto your site, maybe thru TMK but I just can't remember. You make me smile when I read about your day (you also make me tired sometimes because you are always on the go) We have lots in common, especially church related. Keep blogging girl, I can always use a good story and a laugh (you usually provide me with both)

This is Lauren Weldon! I don't have a blog, but I came across yours while reading Jim Martin's. I love hearing about your amazing hilarious boys and your adorable daughter! Your family is a picture of what I'd like in the future, so I love reading about it!

Hola Elizabeth..

I found your blog through Kristen O'Q. She's the one who got me hooked, and I have read lots of the blogs on her "frequents" list. However, yours is the only blog I read somewhat regularly (once or twice a week) of someone that I don't know. I had to quit reading blogs of people that I don't personally know because of spending way too much time at the computer, but for some reason I still catch up on your life every week. I have a little boy who is about the same age as your little girl. (I think maybe a month younger)

I come here to catch up on you instead of calling you. Now when I see you I already know eveything and we can dish on other people! Just kidding! Glad to have a blog friend who I actually have met and see regularly! Sorry I got you hooked. It is a time suck...as you so eloquently put it! :)

I found you through random blog adventures. I believe through Kristen's blog, which was discovered when she commnented on my blog, which I think she found through Tracy.

Tangled, wonderful web of bloggers.

I continue to read and comment because I am delighted to invest in and get to encourage and know such a witty, sensitive TEXAN (I was born in the wrong state, I'm convinced) that will be my neighbor in the Kingdom of heaven someday. :)
