After we took Dad to the airport, we headed south 4 hours to our favorite small town, Fairhope, AL. It's the perfect combination of great shopping, delicious food, gulf breezes, streets lined with tulips and oak trees with spanish moss floating in the wind. Not to mention my favorite independent book store!
The Grand Hotel is also in Fairhope. It has been in operation since before the Civil War. This was the view from our hotel window.
Everyday at 4pm, The Grand serves tea and scones. Wonderful!
While we were there, I also got to meet my second cousin, Hill Robinson. Although we had never met before, we laughed for 2 hours straight about our crazy family and our mutual love for Alabama. We also both have two sons and then a daughter. We became fast friends over dinner. Hill decided that we needed to move to Fairhope. Maybe one day!!
Fairhope also has gorgeous golf courses that the boys enjoyed while Mary Beth and I had a spa day. We can hardly wait to go back!
