Our family has been a part of Upward basketball at our church since Matthew was a 1st grader. Each year, Bryon has coached at least all of his children, but usually a few more teams than that! He coached 5 teams last year! Needless to say, Bryon has been a passionate supporter of this ministry. He was asked to run the league this year, and he happily accepted the offer. It was quite an endeavor to work all day, and then be up at church every day of the week, but he enjoyed the challenge.
Thomas had his best year ever at Upward! He was a great post player and even scored 18 points in one game! It was a great way to end his Upward career. Mary Beth....well, Mary Beth's team was less than fabulous. Even though she loved the girls on her team, they never won a single game! It was just one of those years! Meanwhile, Matthew refereed the 1st-4th grade division each week. He did a wonderful job! Matthew truly has a gift with loving on little kids. He has had lots of practice!
After months of planning, then months of doing, we were all thrilled to wrap up the Upward season! Until next year!
