Baseball and a car accident

I haven't had much time to blog this week. First of all, Tuesday night, Bryon got into a car accident on the major interstate running through our city....while I was on the phone with him! We were talking and then I hear, "NO! NO! NO!" and then the phone went dead. Very scary.

It turns out that he hydroplaned during a torrential downpour and wound up hitting the median between the northbound and southbound lanes. I dropped ME off at my parents and asked Lauren to keep Thomas, who was at her house, and raced to the scene. I was concerned about Bryon sitting out in the rain and dark during a very lively lightening storm while 18 wheelers were zooming by him.

We feel very blessed that Bryon wasn't hurt. Just a little sore. We spent most of our night on the interstate waiting for cops (lots of accidents that night) and a tow truck.

In other news....

I remember being a kid and feeling like once baseball season started, it was time for school to be out. I still feel that way! We had three games this week alone. Matthew has moved up to a more competitive league. This is great for my super intense, very competitive child. What is about to drive me crazy is the super intense, very competitive parents! I actually witnessed a mother on the opposing team a few nights ago screaming that our team was cheating! Can you tell me how 6 and 7 year old boys could possibly be cheating? Utterly ridiculous and I am afraid just the beginning of crazy parents who are living out their childhoods (and maybe their frustrations?) vicariously though their children.

I love watching Matthew play! I, like every parent, am in awe of how his body is growing and how he has picked up the game. My heart bursts with pride!

I am glad Brian was OK. I was talking to my daughter on the phone when I had a wreck a few years ago. Some teenage girl ran a red light and broad sided me.....I calmly said...I have to go, I have had a wreck.

She called back and I told her I was OK to call her Dad and tell him to come and get me. I was at THE red light.....yes there is more than one in Cullman....

Anyway...enjoy the baseball, ignore the parents, they are usually them immature ones.

I'm glad Bryon is OK! I'm more of an expert on car accidents than I want to be.

For me as a kid, the sign of summer was when they started mowing the lawn in front of the school again after the cold weather was over. I would hear the mower and smell the cut grass and think, "Why are we sitting in this building?"

Sorry about the accident--Monday night was horrible weather--I am just so thankful he was not seriously injured!

Enjoy your baseball!

So glad that your hubbie is okay! I hate rainy weather on the interstates. Hope you have a good weekend!

Glad Bryon is okay...scary stuff. The opening game of the AZ D-backs gave me that summer feeling that I love so well. Reminds me of my childhood playing in the cul-de-sac and being called in at dark and hearing the Ranger's game on the T.V. and smelling popcorn...great memories.

Mandy,
She is back to her normal self! We had one really rough night with her Monday night. I haven't ever had a child who was in as much pain, and it was frightening. After that, she has been perfect. She calls her scar, her "Nas-scar"!Thank you for asking!

Oh my goodness! I'm so glad that your husband is O.K. What a great thing the concrete medians are, they have saved so many lives!

Hello Elizabeth,

I wrote to you once, oh so long ago about loving your updates that I happened to stumble upon from a friend of a friend of a friend's. You know how it goes. Well at the time I was working at Baylor and getting ready to have my first baby, now a 6 month old (Sophia Louisa), and was curious about blogging and such. Well I am finally up and going out here in the boonies (somewhere between Valley Mills and Clifton)and have a way to be back on the internet. I am glad your husband is fine and I completely understand about some baseball parents. I have gone to my niece and nephew's tee ball games the last 3 years and with each year it has gotten worse and worse to where last summer parents coaching and those in the stands were yelling at each other and a coach had to be called out. Poor little ones. Now I don't want to go on and on (and I could) but I have a quick question actually...the pictures on your blog are wonderful and I do want to credit your picture taking skills, but part of me is very curious as to what kind of camera you use. Can you e-mail me the name and number of the camera at jkneumann@agristar.net. I would very much appreciate it.
I thank the Lord for the encouragement and sweet reflections on Him that are in your blog.
In Christ,
Jenny
