One name crossed off the list?

As many of you know, we have several names for our little girl. In the same conversation, I will call her Mary Elizabeth, Mary Beth, and ME (Emmy). I like all three so much and since this is more than likely the only time I will ever get to name a girl, I just can't choose. I thought when she was a baby that she would just tell us when she was older what to call her. I just didn't think she would be 2!

Uncle Josh called her "Mary Beth" on Saturday night and she turned to him and said, "I not Mary Beth. I ME!" This is what she calls herself and what the boys call her. Of course, I will always call her Mary Elizabeth, but I think she has chosen her nickname!

Yeah, I think age two is about the time they start making their own decisions about things like that! :)

Yes, I agree, Amy. Evan is very particular that you call him by his FULL name -- Evan James Carpenter -- and not "Baby," "Brother," "Little" or any other sweet nickname I give him. They have a mind of their own at that age!

By the way, thanks for commenting on my blog, Amy. Elizabeth is right...I can definitely relate to the famous name thing!

I have always called Katie, "Katie Boo" as a special little nickname. I think some of her little friends think this is really her name.

Katie started calling me, "Mom" one time. I'm not ready to be "Mom" yet and still want to be "Mommy" or maybe "Mama." I started teasing her by saying, "Hey Kate." She said, "I not Kate! I Kaboo!" (Kaboo is how Katie Boo sometimes comes out.)

I don't know if I could ever stop calling her Mary Beth! :( That'll just have to be my little name for her.
