Update

Matthew has a consult at 2 this afternoon with his dentist. I have gained a little perspective since last night and realize that it isn't the end of the world, it could have been a lot worse, and Matthew will be an official member of the boy club with a veneer on his front tooth! My brother lost half of a tooth in a sports accident and my cousin had a gun recoil and knock out a tooth. Stuff happens.

I just spent two hours at the doctor with ME for a follow up. She had to have another catheter and blood draw. She knew it was coming this time and was VERY upset. She still has blood in her urine so I am waiting on a call from the doc to figure out what to do next.

On top of all of this, we are getting wood floors in our house! We had to move all of our furniture except in the bedrooms and have mostly a concrete floor. I am excited to see how it will all turn out and to get rid of the carpet that has lasted us from Baby Matthew to Baby ME. I would hate for the CSI team to come to our house and test what all is in the carpet from spit up, throw up, juice, pee, etc!

Fortunately Bryon is home now and will be going into work very late. I love when the courts are closed!

I am glad you found some peace.

Poor little ME. I hope she isn't in too much pain.

I would love to get wood floors! Are you doing the kitchen, living room, dining room, entry and halls?

You have logged a whole lot of doctor's office hours lately!!! Hope is is all better soon! I am so ready for February to be over!!! This has been the worst month for health in our family in years!

Steph-We are doing everything you said minus the kitchen. I have always wanted wood floors so I am excited.

Tracy-Yes, we will be putting the house on the market in the next few months. We figured we could enjoy them for a while and will help us sell it quicker. We will see!

My husband laid wood laminate in most of our house (not bedrooms or playroom) and it's awesome. It looks so neat and clean.

Do you think our families could jointly rent a padded room to put our kids in until they turn 25? Sounds like both of us would be able to keep them healthy and intact that way (Sam has all of his front teeth chipped from a fall when he had just turned 1 -- I remember thinking I was so glad that they weren't his permanent teeth yet and that they thankfully didn't die and turn gray).

Keep us posted on Matthew and Mary Beth...and hopefully Thomas will stay healthy!

I work with Matthew at Woodway Elementary.
My daughter has been through the cathetors, blood work, yearly doctor visits, etc. She just had her Kidney Reflux surgery in January and is now a totally different child. She eats more, uses the restroom more, and is almost off her daily antibiotic that she has been on since she was one. She is finally healthy, and the doctor said that everything seems to be working the way it should! Hooray!
Good Luck--if this is the same thing, it is a long road! Madalyn is about to turn 5 and we are glad to be almost through with this kidney and bladder stuff!

Lindsay,
I had no idea that your daughter struggled with kidney stuff. Thank you for sharing your story.

ME will go to a specialist in the next few weeks and have an ultrasound to see if there is something structurally wrong. If there is a problem, I am hoping they will be able to correct it before she has infection after infection.

Matthew loves "Mrs. Michalewicz"! He thinks you are sooooo pretty!

Claire, my middle daughter, had kidney reflux also when she was a baby. We did the daily antibiotic for three years.

She outgrew it thankfully (at age three) and didn't have to have the surgery. She is perfectly healthy now, and those drugs didn't mess her up like I worried about!

Are they testing ME for reflux?

Sorry, just saw your note about the ultrasound. That's the first step they did with us too. I'll be keeping up with her as you post - hopefully the uti was just a fluke.

Kristen-
Unfortunately, putting our children in a padded cell wouldn't help Matthew too much. I am sure he would find a way to break a few more teeth!

You know I love Matthew also! He is an awesome student!
Madalyn started with a kidney infection at the age of 1. The doctor realy scared us because she was constantly saying that this is not supposed to happen to babies. So we had the sonograms, cathetors, and so forth. We dealt with that doctor for about 2 more years hoping Madalyn would grow out of this. But unfortunately she got another infection about that time, so our doctor FINALLY sent us to a urologist, Mr. Jeffrey Sanders. He was, at that time, the only urologist that would take Pediatric patients. We have dealt with him ever since. Like I said they had hoped she would grow out of this. She gets tested every year. But he told us that definately before she started K that he would want to do surgery. So we finally did it. I hope that your daughter will either not have as significant of a problem, or that she can grow out of it. Surgery was very easy and Madalyn was home, eating Chick Fil A, and playing by 11:00 am. But by all means, if you can surpass surgery that is the best bet.
Good Luck!

I know this is a late comment to your blog, but I was referred to your blog from MDM. My 2 month old has a UTI! Just diagnosed on Friday and we go back tomorrow to see the results from the blood culture. HELP! She hasn't had any fever (that I know of)I just found blood in her diaper. I think I found in your blogs that your daughter was 18 months...is that right? I am finding in the comments that this is pretty normal for little girls, but all of these comments are for older girls than mine. Have you heard of any around my daughters age?
